Yesterday, in between visiting clients, I was able to drive by the laboratory/”new”house.  So much is happening so quick right now in preparation for our move.  Let me see if I can give you the latest.

See that beautiful crown molding!  The side of that post that you are facing was previously a load baring wall.  We removed it and put a beam up in the ceiling.  To the right of that, where the light is coming from, is our foyer/front door.

Inset Mirrored Bathroom Door

Inset Mirrored Bathroom Door

All along this remodeling process I’ve wanted an inset mirrored bathroom door.  I didn’t want to waste wall space on what I think is a necessity, and I certainly didn’t want the look of a clipped on mirror.  Pleased with how it looks so far, but can’t wait to see it installed.

Prepping Cabinets

Prepping Cabinets

Some of the cabinets are now being prepped for installation.  I’ve never had dark kitchen and bathroom cabinetry so I’m looking forward to seeing it all pulled together.  The icing on the cake will be the installation of the transitional cabinetry hardware.

Keep It In the Family

Keep It In the Family

This was the latest “gotcha” of the remodel.  We learned that the sewer line from the house had broken away from the sewer line that comes up from the street.  Major yuk!  Everyone thinks the cause of this was from an over grown tree that has since been removed, and simply the age of the home (built in 1964).  The bad news . . . this set us back a good chunk of change, the good news . . . my awesome brother-n-law will be fixing the problem.  On Monday a hole of 8’4″ deep and 5′ feet wide will need to be dug and shored up so no one gets hurts, then the pipe can be repaired and we will be back in the potty business.  I got a kick out of seeing the “Sutherlin Contracting” spray painted in the street, in preparation for the digging.  It truly is YOUR home when your name (and brother-n-law’s name) is painted in the street :).

Refrigerator - In the Living Room

Refrigerator – In the Living Room

Most of our appliances have arrived . . . who hasn’t seen a refrigerator sitting in their soon to be living room.  The last I heard, we were only missing the washer and dryer, everything else has shown up.  I can’t tell you how excited I am to have an oven again.

If you’ve noticed the darker spots on the floor above, it’s from the floor leveling that needed to be done to install the new woods floors this weekend.

Today and tomorrow I understand their is painting under way.  I would LOVE to be a fly in the room when the painters start to put some of my paint selections on the wall.  I added several accent paint colors  in nearly every room, but they really wont make since until I’ve gotten everything installed.

Our official move is date is the 19th, a week from Monday.  Can you say EXCITED!  If any of you have any words of wisdom for moving day (bringing things out of storage after months), I would love to hear your comments.

On the way home from conference we stopped by the house/”laboratory”  to check on the progress.  We saw a lot of this . . . buckets full of grout, but I LOVED what it had to say on the bucket.

"Let

“Let’s Get This Done” – Music to my ears after months in a hotel.

I think I need these in our studio for deliveries.

I think we need these in the studio for the piles of boxes and packaging we receive each week.

The process is coming to an end, in just two short weeks we should be in the house.  If you look back a couple of posts ago, you will see this same wall with exposed wood and wiring.  It’s finally all coming together.

Here are a few pictures from our Awards Gala.
