Unexpected Art

You just never know when you see something that will give you inspiration.  Yesterday I was actually able to squeeze in a hair appointment (long over due) with Daniel at Integrite Salon.  I’ve been there many times but for some reason I looked up today and admired this . . .

Daniel, one of the co-owners of the salon, is very creative and is always up to creating something new.  I asked him how he came up with the beautiful “chandelier” lighting idea.  He said he first obtained the fixture from someone redoing their home and they nearly gave away this stunning fixture.  Keep in mind it’s the real thing . . . real crystals!  He had hung it in a traditional manner in his old salon but when when moving to this location the ceiling height would not accommodate this very large piece.  He removed the top third of the piece and cut the remainder of the piece in two, then attached the two pieces horizontally to the ceiling . . . genious!  I love being around creative souls.

You will also notice in the background of this picture another unique lighting fixture hanging over the table.  Daniel created that one too.  It’s been up since Christmas and Daniel explained he’s planning on putting up a new creation soon . . . can’t wait.

On another completely different note, I had a design luncheon today with several of my fellow San Diego designers at Ventana’s in Escondido.   If you’ve never been there you need to stop by for lunch or dinner.  Not only is the decor beautiful but the food is always wonderful.  It reminds me a lot of the fine dining in the Napa Valley.  Below are a couple of pictures of the interior, and you can view their menu on line.  What is really unusual is that this restaurant is above the Lexus dealer, right off of the 15 Freeway.  One entire wall of the main dining room is windows and has a stunning view in the evening.  Stop by if you get a chance.

Tomorrow another busy day, meetings with my drapery work room, then off to our upholster and then off to look at some new designs.   Such a joy to work in a creative world!
