This year we had fun decorating our own home for Christmas. We had incentive as we had a very large open house last weekend. This was the first big party for us after purchasing and redesigning our home a year and half ago. It was such a treat to have our family, friends and neighbors by to celebrate the season.
(Below) – A shot of the Christmas tree. Hard to tell from this far off shot but there was a theme of Top Hats and the colors used where; Red, Black and White.
(BELOW) – I like to also continue the theme of color into by gift wrap. This year I selected one large black checked paper and a solid red and black paper, with multiple types of color themed ribbon.
(Below) – For the party I put together a Christmas Candy Bar. Each guest filled up a small treat bag to enjoy sweets for the rest of the evening. Always a huge success when I put this together, and guests can help themselves to what ever makes them a happy camper.
(BELOW) – After the party we just took away most of the candy jars and left a few for decoration and color.
(Below) – In our guest bath we picked up some simple tie back tassels in a Christmas red at Hobby Lobby and used them to wrap around some nice new plush towels. At the bottom of each towel we folded up two hand towels and used them to provide the full look we wanted at the bottom. For guest use we provided whimsical Christmas towels that looked like they were tied with Santa’s belt, but I did an oops and forget to capture that picture . . . sorry.
(Below) – We added some punch of color to our guest bath with some antique glass and rhinestones. The candle that was displayed and lit behind these beauties caught the light well and and that touch of “glitz”.
(BELOW) – Then there were our guests, the best friends and family a girl could ask ask for.
You have to love my cousin Hennie who dressed as an ugly sweater (our party theme) IN A gift bag. Here she is under our tree trying to disguise herself among the other gifts. We love you Hennie, you always make us smile. She definitely got the award for the most creative.
(BELOW) – A few of my fellow Southern California design buddies. These two women are the best!
(BELOW) – We decided to cater this event so we could enjoy our guests, AND the wine. We had our local wine bar and restaurant, The Barrel Room provide the food, drinks and staff. We could not have been happier with their expertise. Think about them next time you are putting an event together.
(BELOW) – Until next year, my husband (that great guy in the funny cap) and I wish you only the best in the coming year. Thanks for making 2015 such a huge success for Susan Sutherlin Designs.
