Today I made a point of stopping by a San Diego treasure, Artist & Craftsman Supply which is located in the Hillcrest area. From the store front anyone who is inspired by art is pulled into the store by the window display of varying sized easels and the aisles of brightly colored paints. Little did I know that this store is much bigger than it seems from the street.
When I walked through the door I was greeted by this little strong man. Isn’t he cute, okay handsome? Look at all of those little guys surrounding him just calling out for paint.
Then I cam into the yarn and jewelry making area. It was so hard to not stop and by one of everything.
Now onto the paint and canvas area. I honestly think if you can’t find what you need here, it may not exist.
When designing interiors and we need to save on the budget, we will often use stretcher bars and cover them with fabric. We can never seem to find the right size, but now we can! This fabric stretch design is perfect for a dorm room, a nursery, a newlyweds new home, or just anyone on a tight budget. A few stretcher bars and some fabric, and you have a cost conscious piece of art.
Then there is paint, lots and lots of paint. Take a look at that spray paint in all types of different colors . . . dangerous for me because I’m often teased about spray painting anything that doesn’t move.
As I was leaving Artists and Craftsman Supply I took a quick glance across the street and look what I spied, another creative location. A hat store with a HUGE hat on the outside of the building. It will probably have to be my next field trip.
