Fall is the beginning of my favorite time of year. I love it so much that I was married in October in a beautiful vineyard in Temecula. Did I mention, also to a wonderful man, my husband Bob. Many of you have met him when there is heavy lifting involved at my job sites. Love that man!
With fall comes that feeling of wanting to be cozier all cuddled up in your home. As we begin that nesting time of year I thought we could go over a couple of ways to start that transformation in your own homes.
8 Ways to Add the Cozies
1. THROWS – Add a few throw blankets throughout the house. Maybe one over the sofa chaise, another one over the back of a comfortable chair, and a couple at the end of the bed.
2. FALL PILLOWS – Add some decorative fall pillows. I’ve had clients order seasonal pillow covers and change them out as they decorate. Of coarse, we always make these pillows blend in with the every day decor of our homes. Give us a call if we can help you with these additions.
3. A FALL MANTEL – Doesn’t this mantel just make you feel cozy. So many layers to this decor and it will carry you from now until you decorate for Christmas. Loving those paper flower/stars, I think we’ll have to do a DIY on those in the very near future.
4. ADD SOME FUR – Adding some type of (fake) fur to any room will give you that feeling of warmth. Especially this high-rise bachelor pad, those big tall windows are a good counter part to this warm cozy rea
5. READING NOOK – As the leaves begin to put on their fall show who wouldn’t want to cuddle up with a book in this hideaway. What a wonderful use of space, and the opportunities it gives you for storage underneath.
6. CANDLES – This display of candles is fabulous, lots of texture and fall fun. Why not light candles every night?
7. LAYERED WINDOW TREATMENTS – No more un-dressed windows. So many of the homes I’m invited in to consult on window treatments, I find the owners struggling with what to do with very large, but beautiful, windows. Just adding this layered treatment (above) added to the warmth and privacy of the room, but without making this stunning room feel ‘heavy’.
8. DIG INTO THE ATTIC – Time to make that annual dig in the attic for the fall decor. Pull out all of those things that the kids, and grand kids, made in school, or those treasured family heirlooms. Those personal touches are priceless, they reach up and hug you every time you come home.
Enjoy this beautiful time of year.
