What an incredible hotel and staff at Seattle’s Hyatt House. We could not have asked for a better place to spend a couple of nights while we toured this fun town.
Here you can see the Hyatt House sits on a triangle shaped lot with the city monorail system running right by the hotel, which you never heard from inside the hotel.
Just out the back door, and across the street from the hotel, were three of the cities famous landmarks, The Space Needle, The EMP Museum (Entertainment Museum) and the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum. Seriously, this has to be the best location for a hotel.
Our rooms were modern, but not stark and very energy efficient. What I had never seen in a hotel before were power operated hard window treatments. What a welcome surprise from all of the layers of material normally draped over the windows (and a lot cleaner).
In one of the small pictures below you will see the wall controls for the shades, one was just a screen and the other complete room darkening. Great job Hyatt House.
When you entered the room you had to put your room key (see blue card above) in a wall slot which controlled all of the electricity in the room. These room keys were also used in the elevators as a safety measure to get to your designated floor.
Again, the bathrooms were modern, but what I found the most interesting is that there was not a tub. Not a big deal for us, but a young family that might make a difference.
There was a small fridge that was ready for you to stock up on your favorite foods or to bring back some leftovers.
On our last night I was so excited to find a laundry room on our floor. Super clean and several of each type of machine. Before starting a load make sure to head down to the main floor for change.
There was also a incredible complimentary breakfast at the hotel that had everything you could want, even a chef to make you an omelette with whatever you desired in it.
At Seattle’s Hyatt House one one of our favorite parts of the hotel was this roof top patio. There were several BBQ’s, tables and fire ‘pits’. On our last night in town we thoroughly enjoyed this patio with a couple of drinks from the down stairs bar and ordered in a pizza. We sat there and enjoyed the warm evening while looking up at the beautiful space needle right next door.
If you wished to go to the Fish Market, shopping or out to eat, the hotel had a van that would take you any where within a 10 mile radius. We used this service several times that saved BIG TIME on the parking situations.
If you’re planning a trip to Seattle please do yourself a favor and check out Seattle’s Hyatt House. PS – Bring a good pair of walking shoes, this town has a lot to offer.
Next post will be our time at the Seattle museums. Lots of fun especially for someone who loves and architecture.
