The Crown Princess’ food and entertainment went above and beyond my expectations.
There was never a lack of food, Princess did this exceedingly well. By the last day of the cruise we were all ready for a great big salad because we felt like all we had done was eat! Good thing we had some port activities to walk off those calories.
Above, a lot of the desserts we enjoyed that were so artfully created. Presentation of food is so important, a lot like a house that is well accessorized, but with a LOT more calories.
Near the main pool area there was a pizza kitchen where you could order your own personalized pie. Also next to the pool there was a grill where you could get a quick all American hamburger or hot dog. Last but not least, there was an ice cream counter where you could order a soft-serve cone, milk shake or malt. Surprisingly, this ice cream counter seemed to always be busy, even in the cold weather.
Above you can see the crew member that was distributing warm cookies and milk in preparation for Movies Under the Stars. She was sooooooooooo cute, and such a nice crew member. She was the perfect person to be distributing these goodies to the kids and young at heart.
What was a M A J O R plus for me was the fact that you could not enter the buffet lines, and obtain a plate, unless you had sanitized your hands at the Purell Station (see photo) at the beginning of the line. There was a crew member standing at at the entrance to each buffet station to monitor that everyone was doing their part to keep the germs under control. If you didn’t sanitize you didn’t get a plate. Hats off to Princess.
One more big plus is the fact that you could order room service any time. Each night there was a order form for a typical continental breakfast for the following day. You just filled out this form and ta-da your breakfast was delivered the next morning. This was perfect for days that you had an early call time for port activities, or the day we went into Glaciers National Park VERY early in the morning.
When researching the Crown Princess Food and Entertainment, I had read about this “Magic To Do” show and was so excited about seeing this production. This did not disappoint, I would place this show on any level of production I’ve seen in Los Angeles or New York. The costuming, music and dancing were highlights for me, with the magic being secondary.
If you do plan on seeing this show plan to arrive early. I believe we found seats a half hour to forty five minutes early and were glad we did as there ended up being standing room only. I believe this show only took place one night so plan ahead and add this to your social calendar.
Above is a short video of the highlights of the show. I think it gives a good sampling of this outstanding production.
Then there was the typical Las Vegas type of entertainment that was over-all entertaining and in my opinion covered the various levels of musical requests. There was ballroom type music and dancing, a club type scene for shaking your wild thing, and then there was a simple piano bar which we tended to to head towards after a long day.
On next post will cover our time at our second port which was Skagway where we learned about Dog Mushing, participated in Gold Mining and went on a beautiful train ride.
Stay tuned . . . I would love to hear your comments and answer any questions you might have.
