Today we welcome Fall, my favorite time of year.  In San Diego we’ve seen a weather change in the last week and it’s certainly welcomed.

Because I work best from lists (just ask my husband), I’ve put together a Top 10 List to prepare your home for the Fall season.  Hope you find a “list” as helpful as I do . . .

Welcome Fall

Top 10 Household Fall Preparations

1.  Inspect and clean gutters.

2.  Seal gaps and cracks around windows and doors.

3.  Inspect and repair roof.

4.  Replace and clean furnace filters.

5.  Schedule a visit with your local chimney sweep.

6.  Test smoke detectors, CO monitors and check expirations dates on fire extinguishers.

7.  Prepare your home for the holiday season (paint touch-ups, carpet cleaning, order furniture for company, purchase new linens, etc.)

8.  Purchase any needed kitchen items for the busiest baking season of the year.

9.  Order window treatments to keep in the warm cozy air in your home, and to keep the chill outside.

10.  Last but now least, put out that “Welcome” sign at your front door to greet all of your guests.

This past weekend we had a house full of family and friends for a birthday celebration.   Before everyone arrived I had my wonderful husband dig out the boxes of our fall decor.  I say “dig” because after our big move this year we’re lucky to find a hammer in the garage.  I was able to get all of the decorations out for the family to enjoy and it made this house feel a little more like our forever home. Today when I opened up my business email I was greeted by a picture of these beautiful Pottery Barn pumpkins.  Good thing I didn’t see them before I put out my fall goodies last week or I think I would have made quick stop by the mall.  Come to think of it . . . it’s never to late! 🙂 Enjoy this last day of summer.  It’s finally cooled off from the 100 degree weather and we are enjoying the great San Diego weather again. This weekend we added a few more details to our clients living room and this very large, and stunning mirror, added some pizazzzz to the living room and made it look so much bigger.   By the way, it’s already BIG.   This picture does not do the mirror justice, up close the detail is stunning. Our hope is to have this home professionally photographed and entered into our annual franchise international Dream Room competition this year.   There is one big problem, we keep making changes.  I think we will be tackling the sofa, pillows and area rug next.  Gosh, I LOVE my “job”. This next week will be finishing up the layered wallpaper focus wall in this room.  I did take a couple shots this weekend of my awesome husband hanging the wall board and trim, but I think I’ll save the big WOW factor for when it’s finished.
