I’m hoping you’ve noticed lately that my BLOG and my personal design web site has had some major make-over.  We’re still making lots of additions and tweaks but at least were back in the BLOG of things.

Believe me, this would NOT have been possible without the help, and patience of Erin, from brownebites.net.  This girl is one talented woman.

Brownebites Erin

Here is Erin, and her munchkin Jasper, who I owe so much to.  When you get a chance please pop over to her BLOG here.  Erin started her career as an award winning photographer and morphed her killer photography skills into a Lifestyle blog that features incredible travel photography, scrumptious food photos and recipes, and just general good old ‘how to make life better’ knowledge.

Below are a couple of Erin’s photos from a recent trip that her little family went on to Hawaii and then featured on her blog.  These photos made you feel like you were right there.

On my new fancy-dancy blog my plan is to be providing helpful hints for all budgets and all types of homes.  Weather you are in a one bedroom studio or a multi-million dollar home on the ocean, each of these types of homes shares some what the same struggles.

Also, my new blog plan is to feature every day beauty along side my interior work.   As an admirer of all forms of art I’m constantly on the look for anything that inspires me and that I might possibly feature in my home and commercial designs.   If I’m wondering the streets of San Diego, or even farther, you can bet my camera isn’t far behind.  If there is a place that inspires you, drop me a note so that I can stop by that location and catch some photos and admire the beauty.

Have a fantastic week!

Did you know?

Piano Keyboard

This month is National Piano Month.  Our family is huge on music and in fact my husband and I very thankful to music because that is what the brought the two of us together, along with the fact that our adult children introduced us to one another.   Yep, it’s true.

As I design interiors for homes it’s so important to me that these homes reflect the values of my clients.  I can honestly say about ninety percent of these homes have some type of music or art reflected in their surroundings that is carefully selected by the home owner, and I design around those precious items.   These are the special touches that help make the house a home.

Black Baby Grand Piano

You walk through this front door and BOOM there is that beautiful baby grand piano.   Look how that black plays together nicely with the ebony wood floor and stairs.

Modern Piano Beach House

One of my all time favorite rooms.  Look at those sexy piano bench legs and stylish grand piano.  Who wouldn’t want to sit in this beach house, listen to the piano being played, while you watch the sun set?

Upright Piano Black

Now lets not forget about our friend, the upright piano, a staple in many homes.  Don’t you think this is an ideal location for this family heirloom.  I’ve been working with some clients this year, Corbin and Lana, we’ve discussed having their upright piano painted a shiny mustard yellow or a very shiny black with a patterned yellow seat cushion.  Can’t wait to see what happens.  I’ll keep you posted.

Foyer Baby Grand Piano Black

Can I tell you how much I LOVE this entire room setting.  From the black baby grand, to the gently sloping leg on the table, to the very unstructured floral arrangement, it all just makes me smile.

Together my husband and I have six children and each and everyone of them has played an instrument, and all of them have at least played all the way through high school.   In fact, I have a very special step-daughter, Mrs. Katie Browne, who is the music instructor at Aviara Oaks Middle School in Carlsbad, CA.  She has such a gift for music and has to be one of the best teachers I’ve ever met.  God bless music teachers.

Sydney 2000 Olympic Band

I’ll close on one more music mom ‘note’.  Did you know that my two children were part of the Olympic Band that performed opening ceremonies (see pic above) of the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics?  As a proud mom, I also traveled along as a chaperone and that has to be one of the the proudest moments of my life.

Music has taken me all over the world and even introduced me to my best friend, my husband.  Is there music in your home?
