Our Crown Princess Mini-Suite Stateroom stateroom was on the eighth floor/deck which is know as the Emerald Deck. Our room was next door to Mr. and Mrs. Spunky which worked out great!
We were towards the back of the ship which was right under one of the dance areas. At first I feared we would hear people doing the Cha-Cha or Twerking all night, but that fear was un-needed as we heard nothing at all.
Above – This is your door marker and any communication from the ship staff is left here daily. Wondering when all of this information might go digital and be shown on the stateroom TV’s. You know, save paper and save some trees.
Above – This is our stateroom and it was very comfortable and had a great deal of storage and in my opinion had plenty of electrical outlets which seems to be a concern of many cruisers.
This is a really out there comment but if your looking for the hair dryer when you arrive, and you look high and low in the bathroom swearing that it was listed on all of your cruise literature, SURPRISE it’s at the desk next to the bed. Took us awhile to find this most important prepping tool. The bad news this blow dryer is the worst, do yourself a favor and bring one from home.
Decorating Notes – Well where do I start? I think we can make a blanket statement and say it’s dated . . . big time. If this were one of my clients homes I would suggest the following; all lighting should be changed, all art needs updating, the wood trim on cabinetry needs to be re-stained or removed, that poor sofa is awful and at minimum needs to be re-upholstered or better yet replaced, all cabinetry needs doors to hide clutter (needed in all small places). There you go, my major hit list of updates.
A quick peek at the sitting room in our stateroom. That poor sofa looks so sad, it’s just screaming for some help. Also, this sofa was only comfortable for sitting on to put on your shoes, etc. I don’t think anyone would be able to sit there for any length of time, very uncomfortable. Just head over to the comfy bed to read a book.
Above – The other side of the sitting area. Did you notice all of that storage!? There were also two flat screen TV’s which I’m sure would be great for some guests but both myself and Mr. Wonderful thought there should be a screen of some part that could be pulled across these two areas so that if someone wanted to watch TV while someone napped, there would be little concern of bothering your stateroom roommate.
As a designer I laid in this stateroom and continually was thinking, “what can we do about the drapery”? The poor drapery in these guestrooms gets a workout when the sliding doors are opened. Our drapery was very wrinkled, one of the pull bars once missing, and several of the drapery hooks were MIA. I’m sure with all of the humidity, rain and wind these poor drapery get a work out. Maybe next time can give some thought to a hard treatment like shutters, etc.
The closet worked out perfect for us. We had called and arranged for an outside service for a wheelchair for our Mr. Spunky and the closet, without doors, was perfect. Also, what is not pictured, and to the right of the closet, is a floor to ceiling storage cabinet with many shelves.
Our bathroom, which was very functional and had lots of storage. I was continually amazed that we had great water pressure and the hot water was quick and abundant.
Our Crown Princess Mini-Suite Stateroom had a tub, and a BIG tub, insert happy dance here. This scored big points with me because in our last couple of cruises we’ve had tiny showers and no tub.
My only concern about the bathroom, other than it needing a face lift, was the mold that I found around the tub faucets. Remember I tend to lean towards being a Germophobe.
This was our Mini- Suite stateroom patio which we didn’t get use a lot simply because of the weather, but we thoroughly enjoyed having this area and would highly recommend this option. We would go out there for fresh air, look over the side as the ship was docking, go out with our binoculars to look at wild life and to chat with Mr. and Mrs. Spunky next door.
Again, there were some simple housekeeping and repair options that needed attention.

Wondering what would happen if the cruise lines would build in a day every month for the ships to be docked for minor repairs, or reserve 25% of the trip during each trip for repairs. Just a thought.
Catch our post tomorrow when I will cover our first excursion which was our favorite and will be remembered forever. It truly was priceless and I would suggest it to everyone.
Claudia Goertz - Oh dear! While more spacious than most, the condition of that stateroom is appalling! Eww! I am really surprised.
