Countdown – 2 Days to Move In

We are on our countdown, two days to move in!  Can I tell you how excited we are to move into our “new” little house.  We started this adventure at Christmas time 2013 when we decided to sell our home and move a little farther north in San Diego county.  After extensive searching my husband and I decided it would be best if we bought a total fixer upper because we completely enjoy the remodel process.  It’s now been nearly six months, with three months in a hotel two hours away, and nearly all of our personal belongings in a hotel . . . and we are nearly done!

Here are a few pictures of the latest updates . . .

Here (above) is a portion of the island, the granite will note go in for about a week.  We are missing one pendant and they are actually going to be adjusted slightly as the island was moved in a last minute design decision.  We are looking forward to using that new microwave drawer, a new toy for my husband and myself.  If you have suggestions for using this new appliance leave us a comment.

Upper cabinets have now been installed, along with the under cabinet lighting.  When we left the walk through today the cabinet hardware was being installed.  Over the next two weeks there will be a lot of finishing touches to this area.  For the time being I will be doing dishes in our bathroom . . . should be interesting.

The room beyond the workers is our laundry room, this was previously an outdoor patio.  The kitchen and the laundry room are separated by a pocket door.  The washer and dryer were installed this afternoon and we are looking forward to seeing them installed when we visit the house again tomorrow.

So much satisfaction to see our master bathroom coming together.  Basically the only thing we are waiting for in this room are the glass shower doors that had an ooooops and being re-cut.

Here are two of the hallway cabinets where there used to be a closet.  When finished this will also have a granite counter top and under cabinet lighting.

Today when we left a cleaning crew was washing all of the windows and then they were going to move onto all of the cleaning chores (take a look at those floors – – – eekes).  It will be such a joy  to move into a clean house and enjoy all of our months of planning.
